Adventure: Hardford Glen Park

Hardford Glen Park is a small parked hidden away between cities. Its home to the Hardford Glen Environmental Education Center for Hardford County Public School System. The park has a diverse trail system which guides visitors through different habitats for wildlife with over 5 miles of trails. During our adventure there we spotted a Green Heron, Juvenile Little Blue Heron, Belted Kingfisher, Great Blue Heron, and many other wildlife species. The Green Heron was tactfully hunting prey in the shallow water. In fact you can watch a video of him here. The Little Blue Heron was also hunting in the shallow water. We were able to observe three individuals during our walk along the waterway. At first, I thought that it was an Egret, but the subtle differences in the mandible, tail feather, and legs, lead me to identify it as a Egretta caerulea.
