Species Profile: Snowy Owl

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is home to many great things. Every winter Bubo scandiacus migrate along the Great Lakes region from the Arctic regions in search of more abundant resources to survive winter. Many of our photos of Snowy Owls were captured in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They can be seen most commonly along agricultural fields on power poles and fence posts. Currently, their conservation status is of least concern but their numbers have been on a decline. You can learn more about Snowy Owls here.
